A client recently asked me to rewrite her About page. Before diving into the project, I decided to go hunting for inspiration — and on my quest I found some great examples of About pages that share their company story in a way that captures attention and inspires loyalty and affection.
Here are 7 of the best ones I came across… If you’re looking for fresh ideas on how to use your own About page to engage visitors and inspire them to connect with you, be sure to check them out!
1. Fluevog
Ahhh Fluevog… My friends know that I’m obsessed with these shoes. You don’t want to know how many pairs I own. (Seriously. Don’t ask.)
And it just so happens that my all-time favourite shoe store has an excellent About page. The writing is warm, personal, and engaging – with a bit of self-effacing humour to make it fun.
Beneath the first fold, there’s a beautifully designed timeline filled with all sorts of neat photos and interesting tidbits of information about the company. This page does a phenomenal job of explaining the company’s history and character – as well as the value of their products.
It’s so awesome, it actually makes you excited to buy something from them. At least, that’s what it does for me. And clearly I am their target audience.
Off to visit their site to see if they’re having a sale right now… Uh oh. They ARE.
Pray for me…
Oh, and be sure check out their About page here. IF YOU DARE. 😉
2. Yellow Leaf Hammocks
I love this About page for so many reasons. Look at how the headline jumps out and lets us know about the main benefits of these hammocks: “ridiculously comfy,” great craftsmanship, and a transformative experience.
This is my husband’s dream gift right here.
The writing is friendly and inspiring, and the text and images are laid out on the page in a way that makes it incredibly easy to read at a glance. It does a fabulous job of letting us know the company’s driving purpose and inspiring us to want to help them achieve it.
Plus, there’s that ridiculous comfort to be thinking about…

3. Saddleback Leather
Saddleback is another company that inspires you to love them by letting you into their personal world and telling the story of the “why” behind the business in an unforgettable way.
Just look at how it starts off: “A hot wife and two fabulous kids and 14 Rwandan sons and daughters and a cool dog and a crooked federale sent to kill me kind of makes up the Saddleback story.”
I’m hooked!
As you read the About page, you also get to know the family behind the business and the story of how they came to sell leather products. If you’re a dog lover, you’ll love it even more.

4. Andrew Reifman
This one completely cracks me up. Here’s a graphic designer who has created an extremely minimalist About page that still manages to give you a clear idea of what he’s like – and what a great designer he is.
The eyebrows alone are enough to make me want to hire this guy.

5. Superfluent Design
Here’s another design studio, this one run by a couple of partners. Their About page lays out the copy and graphics on the page in a way that showcases this company’s great design skills while also giving us a personal feel for who the guys behind the business really are.
I also like how they present the nuts and bolts info about their business as a Q&A on a smart phone screen — it’s a neat visual trick that make the information more conversational and engaging.

6. Kitties Cakes
I totally want to buy cakes from these women! Mollie and Kelly were professional golfers for 10 years – and as their careers drew to a close they decided to open a cake shop in New York together.
Their About page is beautifully designed and mixes a great blend of photos, graphics, and text to tell their story in a way that gives you a strong sense of their personality and makes you want to know more about them.

7. Degordian
Degordian is a 100+ person marketing company that manages to put a personal face on all its staff via the About page, which also boasts some cool interactive features that encourage you to engage with the content and learn more about the company.
I like that it ends with a strong call to action for you to learn more about their services or view examples of their work – so you’re inspired to go deeper into the site.

Don’t overlook this opportunity to put a compelling personal face on your business
People click on your About page because they want to learn more about who you are and why you do what you do.
They’re looking for a reason to choose YOU over the competition.
Make sure you give it to them!
The About page is your chance to share your origin story and explain why you’re so passionate about your business. It’s also an opportunity to showcase your personality — so visitors can feel like they know you and can trust you — and just maybe fall a little bit in love with you.
